My Etsy Experience (so far)
It's no secret I have an Etsy shop.
In fact, setting my shop up was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I set up my Etsy storefront at the end of 2014 after a coworker suggested I start listing my fondant figurines because she thought they would sell well. I checked it out, and I decided "Why not? What have I got to lose?".
So on October 28th, 2014, the Cakes by Kristi Etsy shop was open for business.
To my surprise, I made a sale within the first month. "Alright!" I thought, "This is going to be great!". Then a few months went by with no sales. Here I am looking at my Etsy stats and wondering what I have to do to make some sales! I went almost 5 1/2 months with no sales! I'm not going to lie- it was a bit discouraging. There were a few points in time when I thought about just closing it down- but I didn't. I kept with it, and in April of 2015 I made my second sale. Slowly, orders started trickling in. I knew that 2015 could have been more profitable than I had been, so I started posting my listings to social media like Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram. As a result, my sales more than doubled in 2016, and I have built up a ton of 5 star reviews to back it up.
Below is the progress I have made over the past two years as an Etsy seller. You can see how many views my listings got, how many views the shop got, how many people favorite my listings or shop, how many orders I had, as well as the total revenue of the year.
*You'll notice that there are no sales (or very few) in March or September. This was because I closed the shop down for a few weeks because I was out of town at cake competitions.
2017 Revenue (Progress)
GUYS. In this chart you can see something that has never happened before in any other month or year for me. I finally had an over $1000 month on Etsy. It's taken me two long years to get to this point, but I can't help feeling excited for what's to come!
With that being said, I would really appreciate if you voted for the Cakes by Kristi Etsy shop in the Etsy Small Business Contest! It takes less than 1 minute, you just have to click HERE and enter your email address to vote. Every vote counts! The shop with the most votes by April 6th will win $10,000 and the runner up will receive $3,000! This would go a long way for my business, so please vote!
Thank you all so much for your continued support! It means so much to me, and I really just can't put it into words. So here's to the next two years, and the next two after that!
